Have you seen this awe inspiring video of Mr. Rogers testifying before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Communications in 1969? Mr. Rogers is there to defend Public Broadcasting from significant budget cuts. The senator he addresses is initially gruff and almost hostile. (He has no idea who Mr. Rogers even is.) But in the course of just a few minutes, the senator’s demeanor changes entirely. By the end of Rogers’ testimony, the federal money is all but guaranteed. This is a master class in getting someone to do a 180 — a total about-face. Have you been able to pull that off? What was the issue?
